Citizens for Melbourne Inc. launches its #FedSquareNotAppleSquare poster campaign, kicking off the next phase for Our City, Our Square and the fight for Fed Square!
We will begin plastering poster bills across city and suburban walls, funded by people who care passionately about Fed Square’s future. The posters demand that the Andrews Government abandon its plans to transform Fed Square from our city’s premier public and civic square into an Apple-branded shopping centre.
Eight Lord Mayor Candidates back Fed Square's future as a public space: Michael Burge, Rohan Leppert, Gary Morgan, Nathalie Nicole O'Sughrue, Kevin Ong, Katie Sfetkidis, Sally Warhaft and Jennifer Yang.
Please go ahead and take photos of the posters and share them on social media with the #FedSquareNotAppleSquare hashtag!
Our poster campaign is funded by people who believe an Apple megastore doesn't belong at Fed Square. It shows the passion with which people are willing to fight for our city and our square. We're also still accepting donations to keep the campaign going.
There is no place in Melbourne that does what Fed Square does. An Apple megastore will destroy our Fed Square. That's why over 100,000 people have signed petitions opposing this undemocratic decision. We believe public space is a decisive issue for the future of our city.
We call on Melburnians to vote for Lord Mayor candidates and State Government MPs that support public space.
Fed Square is no place for Apple - it’s a place for the community.
