APPLE RETAIL CHIEF RESIGNS: END OF APPLE'S MELBOURNE PLAN?
In a shock announcement Apple retail chief Angela Ahrendts has announced her imminent departure from Apple. This comes only a week after hosting an Australian journalist in Cupertino, California to tout her ‘Town Square’ strategy for Melbourne.
In the Apple Fed Square media release from December 2017 Angela Ahrendts said: “We’re thrilled to move forward in the planning process for our new home in Melbourne’s Federation Square and would be honoured to call the world-class galleries and museums of Melbourne our neighbours”.
What does the departure of Ahrendts mean for the future of Apple’s retail strategy and specifically for Melbourne and Fed Square?
What impact will this departure have on the current application to demolish Fed Square’s Yarra Building, in the final 7 days before public submissions on the demolition permit close?
Is Apple a reliable commercial tenant for Fed Square, our city’s most important gathering place?
